This is the best one!

I put the Dimplex DFI2310 log set in my living room fireplace, which has a chimney but can't take a real fire due to venting problems. The fireplace mouth is 36," and for a while I mistakenly thought that I needed a 36" insert. I didn't. These 23" logs fit nicely inside and they look terrific. With the mesh screen in front of the fireplace, the fire looks amazingly realistic (for this price range, at least). Not like a bonfire, not like brightly raging flames, but like a fire on the wane with hot logs and embers and orange flames flickering through. I love a good fire and I don't like cheesiness, and this Dimplex does NOT look cheesy. For this price range it's really impressive. I would probably give it 4.5 or 4.7 stars rather than 5 if I could, but that's not an option. My minor complaints involve (1) the heat and (2) the controls. (1) The heat underwhelms. If I stand four feet away I can feel the heat emanating strongly. Five feet away, I can feel it ever so faintly. More than five feet, I can't really feel any heat. I have an old Honeywell space heater that puts off significantly more heat than the Dimplex seems to do. On the other hand, it probably increases the room temperature slightly even if I can't feel the heat emanating, and what's more, I didn't buy it primarily for the heat. (2) The controls on the unit as well as the remote control could be better, although perhaps not in this price range. They allow very few adjustments or gradations. It's really just a matter of no heat, a little heat, or heat plus blower if you use the switches that reside on the unit itself. If you use the remote control, it's just a simple on and off-- no adjustment of heat. Neither one lets one control the brightness. But again, for the price that I paid I can't hold it against Dimplex that this unit doesn't include fancier or more powerful elements. It's great for the money and I recommend it to others. I might buy another for my basement fireplace.

I wanted to write this review because the other reviews were very helpful to us. I am so pleased! It was so easy to install! We could not get gas logs, because of the potential health risks the gas logs could cause my daughter. We have a 85 year old house with a pretty fireplace, but it the expense for it to be used with a real fire was not something we wanted to invest in, we would probably never have the time to build a real fire, plus its just not my thing. So electric was our choice. This set puts out enough heat to heat the room and I love the remote. We were worried the set would look fake . We are very pleased , they look great and the reflection when its one makes it look like there are so many more logs on the fire. They look great! It is a great buy!

The fireplace insert is better than what we had in mind to fill in the vacant spot in our hearth. After a few false starts with ordered units that were either too large (or, got lost in the holiday mail); this unit was a relief to us.

Perfect amount of heat for one room and very quiet

After extensive research and reading other product reviews, we decided to spend a little more and go with this one. It works great! Nothing to install or build, just unpack and set into the fireplace. Remote works great, and the heat settings are perfect for a living room setting. It heats up the room within minutes, and can be turned off with the click of the remote. We hid a small bluetooth speaker on the fireplace mantle and can play crackling sounds when ever we like. Or have it run nearly silent while watching a movie. Living in an air quality controlled area where actual wood fires are no longer allowed, this was a perfect replacement. Highly recommend.

Our new electric fireplace is a hit with our condominium neighbors, especially with the Board President! I have invited all to see the installation and appreciate the option for converting our dirty and dangerous wood burning fireplaces (many with no hearth) to the realistic and beautiful. Everyone who sees my Dimplex Electric Fireplace Deluxe 23-Inch Insert can’t believe it’s not real fire. We have used the fireplace everyday since it arrived, it has worked perfectly. It arrived packaged very well and was set up in less than 5 minutes. I added two side panels to close off both sides, made of scrap paneling that I painted Flat black. Now it looks like a smaller fireplace, everyone love it that sees it. My daughters dog actually lays in front of it when they visit.

We had a gas fireplace, but any time we used it, it'd set off the smoke detectors for no reason. So we stopped using it. A year later, I see this on Amazon, and was thinking..."huh,i wonder if this would fit in there" so I grabbed the measurements and a measuring tape. Looks like it'll fit great... Buy it, rip out the gas fireplace and throw this in there. Puts out good heat, looks nice. We put a small Google Home Mini for $25 behind the fireplace which is GREAT because we can say "OK Google, play fireplace sounds" and it sounds like it's coming from the fireplace. We plan on running electricity behind the fireplace so that we can plug it in behind it, rather than running an extension cord into the fireplace space.
